The journey of the
Pre-Workout

Seven clinically dosed actives, zero proprietary blends. Here's what each one actually does after it leaves your shaker... where it goes in your body, the job it does during your session, and how your body clears it afterward.

[The 6-step journey]

Shaker to session to clearance

  1. In the shaker (0 min)

1 scoop in 12–16 oz water, 20–30 min before you train.

A scoop of creatine powder pouring into a glass of water
  2. Absorbed (10–45 min)

Amino acids and caffeine cross the gut wall, mostly in the small intestine.

Water and electrolytes crossing the small intestine wall
  3. Bloodstream (30–60 min)

Caffeine and citrulline peak... right as your first working sets begin.

Creatine travelling through a blood vessel
  4. To work (in session)

Blood vessels for pump, muscle for endurance, brain for focus.

Blood vessel, muscle fibre and brain, the three places pre-workout ingredients act
  5. Processed (1–12 h)

Liver breaks down what's left; kidneys filter the byproducts.

Kidney with water and minerals flowing through it
  6. Cleared

Mostly in urine... some leaves as CO₂ you simply breathe out.

Water drop and an exhaled breath of CO2, how the body clears the ingredients

Where each ingredient goes, what it does, and how it leaves

Every amount per scoop, straight from the label. No proprietary blends.

  1. 8 g

    L-Citrulline

    Pump

Absorbed in the small intestine and largely skips the liver. Your kidneys convert it to arginine, which blood vessel walls use to make nitric oxide... vessels relax, blood flow to working muscle rises, and that's the pump. Peaks around 1 hour.

How your body clears it: Its nitrogen is recycled or turned into urea by the liver, then filtered by the kidneys and leaves in urine.

  2. 3.2 g

    Beta-Alanine

    Endurance

Pulled into muscle, where it pairs with histidine to build carnosine... a buffer that soaks up the acid behind the "burn" so you can grind out more reps. Stores build over 2–4 weeks of consistent use. The tingle is harmless nerve activation in the skin.

How your body clears it: What muscle doesn't take up is broken down for energy and exhaled as CO₂; only a small amount leaves in urine.

  3. 2.5 g

    Betaine Anhydrous

    Power

Acts as an osmolyte, helping cells hold water and keep their shape under stress, and as a methyl donor in the liver and kidneys. Research links it to support for power output and training volume.

How your body clears it: Converted step by step to dimethylglycine → glycine, which your body reuses; a small share leaves unchanged in urine.

  4. 2 g

    L-Tyrosine

    Focus

Crosses into the brain, where it's the raw material for dopamine and norepinephrine... the messengers behind drive and focus, which run low when you're tired, stressed, or deep in a long session.

How your body clears it: The liver breaks extra into fumarate and acetoacetate (both used as fuel); the nitrogen leaves as urea in urine.

  5. 600 mg

    Alpha-GPC

    Focus

600 mg of 50% Alpha-GPC = 300 mg Alpha-GPC. Splits into choline and glycerophosphate. Choline reaches the brain and nerve endings to make acetylcholine... the signal for focus and the chemical "go" that tells your muscles to contract.

How your body clears it: Choline is built into cell membranes or metabolized by the liver (partly into betaine); any excess is filtered out in urine.

  6. 200 mg

    Caffeine Anhydrous

    Energy

Nearly 100% absorbed, peaking in 30–60 min. It blocks adenosine, the brain's "slow down" signal... so you feel more alert and hard sets feel easier than they really are.

How your body clears it: The liver (enzyme CYP1A2) turns most of it into paraxanthine. Half-life is ~3–6 h; metabolites leave in urine, under 3% unchanged.

  7. 100 mg

    Theobromine

    Smooth lift

The signature compound in cocoa. Absorbed slowly and peaks in 2–3 h, giving a gentler, longer-lasting lift and mild blood-vessel relaxation that helps smooth out the caffeine curve.

How your body clears it: The liver converts it to methylxanthines and methyluric acids; half-life is ~7–12 h, and it all leaves in urine.

[How to take it]

How to take it

  1. Time it right

1 scoop in 12–16 oz water, 20–30 min before training, so peak levels line up with your workout.

  2. Start with ½

New to pre-workout? Take ½ scoop first to see how you feel, then work up to a full scoop.

  3. Mind the caffeine

200 mg per scoop. Skip other caffeine that day, and give it ~6 hours before bedtime.

[Key takeaways]

Key takeaways

  1. Pump

8 g citrulline drives nitric oxide and blood flow.

  2. Focus

    Tyrosine + Alpha-GPC + 200 mg caffeine for a locked-in mind.

  3. Endurance

3.2 g beta-alanine + betaine to push past the burn.
